C was on a night shift last night (Nicely tucked up in bed now) at MKG Hospital and asked the Sister on the ward what had happened regarding the scaffold collapse at Jury's Inn a few days ago.
Apparently, Two Shires sent out a call that the hotel had collapsed and 200 casualties were coming in (Something like a dozen ambulances, two air ambulances and more were sent to the scene), so MKGH discharged around 127 patients to clear up beds, halted operating theatre lists and brought in 100 A&E staff to cope with the tide of wounded and dying.
The first casualty comes in and is whisked away with efficient professionlism, and the second and the third casualty and then......nothing. Nada, no more casualties. Everyone standing around twiddling their thumbs.
Kudos to MKGH for leaping into action and being prepared for a major incident at the drop of a hat, not so much to Two Shires however..
Everything and nothing. Read it, shrug your shoulders and move on.
