Recycling Waste = 5.4 kg
Landfill Waste = 6.8 kg
Composting Waste = 1.5 kg
+ crap loads of glass bottles and jars that I couldn't be arsed to weigh
We have now recorded five weeks of waste data so it might be instructive to calculate a very rough yearly figure based on those records.
We'll add the five weeks together...
Recycled Waste = 20.7 kg
Landfill Waste = 36.2 kg
Composting Waste = 7.5 kg
Then multiply the figures by 10 for a 50 week figure, which will pass for a yearly amount of waste. We've got a two week holiday to Lanzarote in August (Yaaaaaaaaaay!) so we can afford to have a two week gap in the yearly figure. And i'm sure the world can survive the carbon emissions from our one flight in donkeys years too.
Annual
Recycled Waste = 207 kg
Landfill Waste= 362 kg
Composting Waste = 75kg
That's not too bad I guess, especially considering that each UK household produces over 1 tonne of rubbish annually
yet we've managed, as a three person household, to cut ours to 644 kg per year with roughly a third going directly to recycling plants, a further 11% going into composting and about 56% going to landfill.
Everything and nothing. Read it, shrug your shoulders and move on.
